THE LOGLINE
After a close friend dies suddenly at fifty, financially struggling but fiercely fit Sanju gives his five hopelessly unfit lifelong friends one year to get healthy. What begins as a disastrous fitness challenge transforms their bodies, marriages and priorities — until they realise the man saving everyone else has forgotten to save his own life.
THE STORY
Six Pune friends have survived school, careers, marriages, children, money problems and each other. What they have not survived particularly well is middle age. One is overweight. One lives on stress. One thinks protein can fix everything. Another has forgotten the last time he exercised. Their wives have heard every excuse imaginable. Then one of their friends dies suddenly at fifty. For Sanju, the fittest and financially weakest of the group, grief becomes a mission: five friends, one year, get healthy or else. What follows is not a transformation montage. It is chaos — diet wars, disastrous workouts, marital arguments, bruised male egos, secret cheating and competitive fitness. Along the way, they realise that while Sanju has been fixing everybody else’s life, his own is falling apart.
